School-to-Work
Many efforts are underway, both nationally and in our region, to assure that students are prepared to make a successful transition into the world of work. Increasingly, the call is for integrated standards and assessment systems that address workplace readiness, applied learning, and service learning outcomes in addition to academic accomplishment. ASDS is currently engaged in School-to-Work (STW) initiatives at the national, state, and local levels, and has been designated a Technical Assistance "expert" by the national STW Office. A common purpose linking our work is to help ensure proposed STW reforms align and integrate with other school reform efforts, including curriculum integration, standards, and performance-based assessments. Working with educators, administrators, and industry representatives, ASDS staff works collaboratively to ensure that standards and assessment development and implementation efforts reflect the needs and desires of the key stakeholders.
