- The California Early Start Library is open to any California resident interested in resources and information on prevention and early intervention.
- Library patrons or individuals (not organizations) with a completed patron application form on file may check out materials. Patrons are able to search the online Early Start Library.
- Staff can assist library patrons in locating specific materials, identifying materials available by selected topics and by selecting materials for staff training, community presentations, parent/family meetings and other special activities.
- You can also search on your own through the online Early Start Library using topics, key words, title, or author(s).
- Once you find an item you wish to borrow from the library, complete a check-out request form. You may check out up to 10 items at a time.

- Library loans are for a full two weeks. Please ensure materials checked out are mailed in time to arrive at the Early Start Resources (ESR) office on or before the due date.
- To extend the due date for materials, please call the ESR office. If there are no other requests for the item(s), the due date usually can be extended.
- The borrower is responsible for the return postage fee. Materials can be returned by insured first class mail or by United Parcel Service (UPS).
- Library patrons are responsible for returning all materials in the same condition as they were received. If the materials are lost or damaged, the borrower is responsible for replacement or repair costs.
