Peter J. Guerrero
Project Coordinator Peter Guerrero joined the WestEd Center for Prevention and Early Intervention in 1998 as Project Coordinator for the California Early Intervention Technical Assistance Network (CEITAN). He is primary researcher and writer for the Early Start Service Coordinator's Handbook, a personnel development project for the State Department of Developmental Services. He has primary responsibility for the development and recruitment of the Consultant Network and also assists with the Early Start Personnel Development Scholarship Fund.
Guerrero has a 16-year history with the Lanterman Regional Center, serving as assistant director for early start services, program manager for early intervention and prevention services, supervisor for infant services and prevention unit, and service coordinator in both the infant and school-age units. He was a Supervisor at La Frontera Mental Health Center in Tucson, AZ, where he supervised a program for emotionally-disturbed preschoolers. He has also served as a evaluating consultant to Headstart programs in the western United States.
Guerrero has a BFA from California State University, Los Angeles, and an MEd in special education/learning disabilities from the University of Arizona, Tucson. Prior to graduate school he served in the USAF and is a Vietnam-era veteran.
