We offer ELLA in two formats to accommodate your scheduling needs.
Format One: Traditional ELLA Training - Six Onsite Workshops & Eight Days of Technical Assistance
This format includes six, three-hour workshops and eight days of technical assistance. The total cost, including all workshops, materials, and technical assistance, is $42,000.
The three-hour workshops are for up to 35 participants, and are flexibly scheduled throughout the school year. Each workshop is designed so that participants learn manageable chunks of evidence-based, practical information that they can use in their classrooms before attending the next workshop. Each workshop includes structured reflection, opportunities to practice new strategies, and time to troubleshoot newly tried practices. The eight days of onsite technical assistance, which includes demonstration lessons and peer reflective coaching sessions, support teachers with what they’ve learned in the workshops.
Format Two: SB 472 ELPD & Optional Follow-up Coaching/ Implementation Support
This format provides SBE-approved SB 472 English Learner Professional Development (ELPD). SB472 ELPD is designed for K-6 teachers who have completed the initial 40-hour AB466/SB472 training. The main purpose of the training is to support the systemic implementation of effective core instruction for English learners across the content areas using State Board of Education (SBE) adopted materials. WestEd’s SB 472 ELPD emphasizes evidence-based instructional strategies, demonstration lessons, planning time, and opportunities to practice new strategies.
Scheduling options for SB472 ELPD include:
- 5-day institute
- 5 Saturdays throughout the school year
- 10 afternoons throughout the school year
- A combination of the above formats to meet your scheduling needs
The cost for the 5-day institute format and 5 Saturday format is:
- School teams of 25-34 members: $1200 per participant
- School teams of 35 or more: $1,000 per participant
