Project Description: WestEd's Learning Innovations staff work throughout the Northeast and other regions of the country to support local school districts and state agencies in the effective design and implementation of mentoring and new teacher induction programs.

Learning Innovations staff design and implement professional development sessions to prepare experienced teachers as mentors and classroom coaches, provide in-classroom coaching for mentors and new teachers, facilitate mentor teacher leader seminars, evaluate mentor programs, and facilitate state-level policy and professional development efforts around mentoring and new teacher induction. Among several resources to support this work are Mentoring: A Resource and Training Guide for Educators, Mentoring Programs for New Teachers: Models of Induction and Support, and Mentoring and Induction Programs That Support New Principals, all by WestEd's Susan Villani.
