This book shares results from eight schools that implemented the ideas proposed in The Copernican Plan, including increasing students' "time on task," reducing class size, reducing the daily number of student classes, and establishing a class structure that supports better instruction based on research. It evaluates the first attempt to implement the Plan at a Massachusetts high school and tests the conclusions of this evaluation against the experiences of seven other high schools that initiated versions of the it. Finally, it summarizes the results and considers the potential of the experience in supporting achievement of the national education goals.
