Julie Z. Aronson
Senior Research Associate

A member of WestEd's staff since 1993, Julie Aronson serves as a Senior Research Associate for the Evaluation Research Program. Her expertise is in the areas of program evaluation, policy analysis, and applied educational research. She has worked on a wide range of program evaluations and education policy projects. Aronson has extensive experience designing and conducting formative and summative evaluations of comprehensive school- and community-based programs. Many of her previous evaluations have focused on programs designed to assist underserved and underrepresented youth prepare for college entry and success. In addition, she has conducted a number of evaluations of interagency collaborations and teacher professional development programs. She has also written on various education policy issues. Previously, Aronson worked in a variety of education and community-based organizations, directing interagency education and support programs for low-income youth, many of whom were parenting, homeless, and out of school. This background helps to keep her research approach grounded in the challenges inherent in implementing, managing, and sustaining collaborative education and human service programs. Aronson received a BA in sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an MA in public policy from Harvard University.
