Director, Materials Development, Strategic Literacy Initiative
Lynn Murphy is the Director of Materials Development for WestEd's Strategic Literacy Initiative. She has been at WestEd since 1999, originally in the Communications Department as a Senior Communicator. Her current responsibilities center around developing Reading Apprenticeship resources for teachers, students, professional developers, and teacher educators.
Previously, she served as Director of Materials Development at the Developmental Studies Center in Oakland, supervising a staff of writers, editors, desktop publishers, and videographers in the creation of teacher and professional development materials. While at the Educational Products Information Exchange Institute at Teachers College, Columbia University, she was the editor of EPIE's quarterly product reviews and monthly newsletters. Murphy also wrote news and features for Taconic Press, a newspaper chain in Dutchess County, New York.
Murphy has a BA in sociology from Bard College.
