How does it work:
It can be important to pre-select relevant material before asking students to do online research. Below are some different search engines or directories built around K-12 appropriate web sites.

Classroom Examples:
Try this activity to compare finding relevant digital resources by using different search tools.
  • Use the different search engines to find text for use in your classroom. (e.g., correct level or subject/topic)
  • Compare use of search and a directory service. (e.g., KidsClick vs. Google)
  • Finally: Cut and paste text into a MSWord document and save file on desktop.
