    What it Does

    For Local Education Agencies (LEAs), Tracker is a powerful tool in helping plan, implement, and track improvement efforts. For State Education Agencies (SEAs), Tracker supports an efficient process for following the progress of district and school improvement plans and monitoring the implementation of categorical programs. SEAs and LEAs store and manage work in a common space, easily sharing data and communicating more efficiently.

    Impact

    Tracker helps improve coordination within a State Education Agency (SEA) as well as between an SEA and Local Education Agencies (LEAs). It supports SEAs in providing context-sensitive information to LEAs during monitoring and planning activities; it enables schools and districts to focus more on the implementation and effectiveness of their programs and less on the paperwork and process of monitoring for compliance or improvement planning.

    Tracker is not a one-size-fits-all system. It is designed to work within state and local contexts.

    Implementation

    A team of WestEd staff, comprised of technical, content, and design experts, works with each State Education Agency (SEA) and its Local Education Agencies to ensure that Tracker is integrated with established processes and models, such as statewide systems of support and desktop audits. WestEd uses an iterative planning process that tests assumptions and recommendations through piloting and ongoing, consistent stakeholder engagement. Currently, seven SEAs use Tracker.
