Learning Innovations
about the program
WestEd's Learning Innovations (LI) creates supportive environments that promote teaching and learning. Program staff work with schools, districts, and state departments of education, building their capacity to promote improvement. They provide professional development for teachers, principals, administrators, coaches, and others who support students' learning.
Staff also pursue research and development that advance knowledge and understanding about how best to advance the growth and development of students and those who support them.
LI's expertise informs policy and implementation in seven northeastern states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands through two Comprehensive Centers (providing No Child Left Behind assistance), the Northeast Regional Resource Center (focusing on special education), and a Regional Educational Laboratory (increasing the use of scientifically based evidence to improve student achievement).
