SchoolsMovingUp, a WestEd initiative, helps schools and districts raise student achievement by connecting people with experts, resources, and each other on high-interest topics related to improving student outcomes.

Our increasing membership includes school and district administrators, teachers, state and county office of education staff, technical assistance providers, college professors, and parents, both nationally and internationally.

SchoolsMovingUp staff use innovative web-based strategies such as webinars and online resources to engage a wide variety of educators, disseminate information, and facilitate discussion about connecting research to practice.

Since 2003, our popular interactive webinars have featured nationally known presenters sharing research, new ideas, and strategies. We design and facilitate these events to encourage discussion both between the presenter and participants and among the participants. Archives of these webinars are available for personal or group professional development.

SchoolsMovingUp also offers in-depth, online professional development that is sustained over a long period, embedded in practitioners' own work, and supported by a national expert and a community of online learners.

Staff select and promote resources that add to the current discussions on student achievement, including school profiles and abstracts of key articles offering practical ideas for improving student outcomes. These resources are also coordinated with online professional development offerings to support their use by educators.

We have established partnerships with organizations such as Stanford University, the Center on Instruction, the IRIS Center, First 5 California, and the Center for Research on the Educational Achievement and Teaching of English Language Learners to ensure a broad range of resources are available to users.

Disseminating research and practice from across all of WestEd's programs and projects also enables SchoolsMovingUp to provide members with the most relevant resources for educators focused on improving student outcomes.
