The Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning at WestEd works to ensure all students have effective, well-prepared teachers who can help them succeed academically. How do we accomplish this? By using evidence-based data, careful analysis, and thoughtful communication to build visibility and understanding of the teaching force and its impact on student learning.

- Gather the facts through top quality research, as well as serve as a convener for leading experts in the area of teaching quality
- Shed light on critical issues affecting students' learning and the quality of teaching
- Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to key audiences who can take or influence action
- Find common ground for tough problems by bringing together diverse groups and viewpoints
- Build capacity in other organizations by providing information and assistance
- Help develop California's teacher workforce data system to ensure informed decision-making
- Improve student success in science and mathematics through better teacher preparation and support
- Improve educational opportunities for students in foster care
