Rethinking Issues of Alignment Under No Child Left Behind

Focused on alignment issues brought to the fore by No Child Left behind, this Knowledge Brief describes different ways of conceptualizing and examining alignment. It identifies the different aspects of alignment and addresses the different purposes served by alignment studies, new federal and state requirements about alignment, and methodological advances in dealing with alignment. It concludes with recommendations for states and districts looking to conduct or commission alignment studies.
