The English Language Development Student Report (ELD Student Report) Card is a standards-based supplement to a regular report card for English learners. The ELD Student Report is intended to be used in conjunction with WestEd’s Fifth Edition of the Map of Standards for English Learners, Grades K-5 and Grades 6-12. There are report forms for grade spans K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

The Map of Standards for English Learners matches California’s ELD standards to the state's English-language arts standards and organizes them in a teacher-friendly format. ELD standards that address the same concept or skill from Beginning to Advanced ELD levels form a cluster with a "big idea" label. The ELD Student Report captures the "big ideas" that are considered the most essential. It is intended that teachers will use the Map to teach and assess English learners, and use the ELD Student Report to report student progress.

There are three documents: Spanish and English versions of the ELD Student Report and the Guide to the English Language Development Student Report, which explains how to complete a report form for a student and gives suggestions for best use.

WestEd is charging no license or other fee for use of these materials. Click here to complete a registration form and obtain the three downloadable Word files. Users are free to tailor the forms as they wish. To see a pdf version, click the link above, "view online/pdf."

As the Report’s originator says, "This is what teachers and administrators have been asking me to create. This is the report I wish I received for my [English learner] children — to really see their progress and to anchor a discussion with their teachers."
