His responsibilities include directing the national Center on Standards and Assessment Implementation and the Project Management Partner work for the SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium.
Rabinowitz has consulted extensively on standards, assessment, and school/educator accountability issues with policymakers and practitioners at national, regional, and state levels.
He serves on numerous state Technical Advisory Committees and served as a member of the Common Core State Standards national validation committee.
Prior to joining WestEd, Rabinowitz was the State Assessment Director for the New Jersey Department of Education.
Rabinowitz received a PhD in education psychology and statistics from the University at Albany, State University of New York.
