Tejwani's work has encompassed a variety of evaluation designs as well as content areas, including teacher preparation, dropout prevention, early literacy, science, and the arts. Her responsibilities include project coordination, research study design, instrument development, data collection and analysis, and proposal and report writing.
A member of WestEd's Evaluation Research Program, Tejwani has extensive experience conducting site visits for various projects, which includes conducting interviews, observations, focus groups, and document reviews.
Tejwani is evaluating two teacher preparation programs. One is the Transition to Teaching program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Innovation and Improvement. As the project coordinator, Tejwani analyzes grantee performance reports and survey data collected from grantees to assess grantee performance and program effectiveness. As necessary, she also helps grantees gather and analyze data to improve implementation.
Also within the area of teacher preparation, Tejwani is evaluating an urban teacher residency program focused on providing high-quality teachers in turnaround schools. The program is a collaborative effort among Chicago Public Schools, National Louis University, and the Academy of Urban School Leadership. For this project, Tejwani conducts focus groups and observations of resident teachers, mentors, and faculty.
Tejwani previously directed the Evaluation of the Texas School Dropout Prevention and Reentry Program (TSDPRP) Grants, which employed a quasi-experimental design and multiple methods to determine the impact of TSDPRP on dropout prevention and reentry efforts in Texas. Tejwani cowrote the final report, which presents to the Texas Education Agency a description of the activities and results of the program evaluation.
Tejwani also worked on the national evaluation of the Public Broadcasting Service Ready To Learn program and Network for English Acquisition and Reading Star Schools program. For both projects, she provided data on student literacy achievement, as well as data on teacher and parent attitudes and efforts regarding increasing child exposure to literacy initiatives.
Prior to joining WestEd, Tejwani taught undergraduate classes in research methods and psychology at Concordia University, Irvine, California State University, Fullerton, and Saddleback College.
She received a BA in psychology from California State University, Long Beach, an MA in psychology from California State University, Fullerton, and is working on her PhD in applied social psychology at Claremont Graduate University.
