Anuradha Advani
Program Assistant
SchoolsMovingUp offers a wealth of practical ideas and models for school improvement by engaging educators in conversations about education research and practice. To help facilitate the initiative's online learning, Advani writes online abstracts of the latest research on school improvement, publicizes online events, and provides customer support on content and technology. She also writes and edits copy for the monthly e-newsletter, SchoolsMovingUpdate, which is disseminated to more than 28,000 educators and practitioners nationwide.
Advani also serves on WestEd's English Learner Evaluation and Accountability Support team, where she provides research support to agency colleagues and makes resources available to California school districts and technical assistance providers. Advani supports these districts and providers as they aim to improve the annual measurable achievement objectives of their English learners under Title III of the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
Prior to joining WestEd in 2007, Advani taught social studies, English, and English language development in Bay Area (CA) schools. She has presented unit plans on high school world history and U.S. history at various conferences and workshops.
Advani received a BA in ethnic studies from the University of California, Berkeley and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in social studies and English from San Francisco State University.
She is pursuing an MA in history with a concentration in history education at San Jose State University, where she is the recipient of a Teaching American History grant from the National Endowment of the Humanities.
