The Regional Educational Laboratory West (REL West) at WestEd will host a webinar to disseminate the study findings of the rigorous research study, Effects of Problem Based Economics on High School Economics Instruction, to study participants, research partners, and program developers.

Webinar presenters also will discuss implications for classroom use of the Problem Based Economics curriculum.

The keynote presenter will be Neal Finkelstein, Principal Investigator for the Institute of Education Sciences' approved and published report on which this webinar is based. Finkelstein will present an overview of study findings. Finkelstein also will lead a facilitated participant discussion on the implications for use of the Problem Based Economics curriculum.

John Mergendoller and Nan Maxwell will give an overview of the Problem Based Economics curriculum, developed by The Buck Institute for Education. Mergendoller is Executive Director of the Buck Institute. Maxwell serves as Executive Director, The Human Investment Research and Education Center, College of Business & Economics, California State University, East Bay.

A panel of collaborators on the study — Empirical Education, Inc., Educational Data Systems, Inc., and the Sacramento County Office of Education — will discuss the implications of the research.
