The Early Start Core Institutes, sponsored by the California Department of Developmental Services, build competencies for early intervention service providers. They also provide the knowledge base that all personnel involved in early intervention are expected to have in common, above and beyond knowledge in an individual area of specialization. With this foundation of critical knowledge, Institute participants are better prepared to build and practice skills through local training and direct supervision experiences.

Who Should Attend:

  • Early Intervention direct service providers working in regional center vendor programs and local education agencies
  • Educators and home visitors
  • Assistants/aides/paraprofessionals
  • Staff, including therapists, who are new to working with children with disabilities, ages birth to 3, and their families
  • Early Start service coordinators
  • Family resource center staff and volunteers
  • Child care providers
  • Health care providers
  • Staff from partner agencies, such as Early Head Start/Head Start, preschool programs, public health programs, and mental health programs
  • Parents
Registration is required.
