National Science Foundation Cites WestEd's Work as a Model

ARC-REESE Criteria & Guidelines for Rating the Methodological Rigor of Educational Research in STEM

National Science Foundation — July 9, 2012

In newly released guidelines for rating the rigor of education research related to science, technology, engineering, and math, the National Science Foundation (NSF) cites WestEd's work as a model worth emulating.

Exhibit 2 of the guidelines features research design led by WestEd's Cynthia Greenleaf and Tom Hanson, members of the READi (Reading, Evidence, and Argumentation in Disciplinary Instruction) project.

READi is a U.S. Department of Education-funded research initiative focusing on literacy in the context of academic disciplines. In the example presented in the NSF guidelines, the research focuses on literacy in biology.
