Professional and Organizational Learning (POL)Leadership development for individuals, schools, and school districts.
WestEd’s Professional and Organizational Learning (POL) develops professional development products and services that support the implementation of effective standards-based instruction and school practice. The professional development programs take two forms: The first engages whole systems in a district-centered leadership and organizational development program involving district leaders, principals, and teacher leaders from participating districts; the second convenes groups of teacher leaders and supports them in the development and implementation of standards-based assessments and instructional practices.
Isolation Is the Enemy of Improvement, written by Kate Jamentz, provides both an overview of the instructional demands of standards-based practice and tools to help leaders in their efforts to foster such practice.
