Teacher Professional Development Program (TPD)
Providing teacher support for continued success.

The Teacher Professional Development (TPD) program, which includes the Strategic Literacy Initiative (SLI) and Quality Teaching for English Learners (QTEL), comprehensively addresses teacher learning, from preservice through teacher leadership in grades 2-14.

SLI, through its Reading Apprenticeship® approach, focuses on improving subject area literacy in middle school, high school, and community college classrooms. SLI is currently involved in a five-year, federally funded Investing in Innovation (i3) grant, reaching 400,000 high school students and their teachers in California, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Utah.

QTEL is a unique professional development initiative that promotes high-challenge, high-support learning opportunities to develop teacher expertise and raise the achievement of English language learner students. QTEL has provided intensive support to major school districts nationwide, including Chicago, Fort Worth, Oakland, Sacramento, and San Diego.
