Columbia River Education and Workforce Council (CREWC) Certification Portfolio Development

The Columbia River Education and Workforce Council (CREWC) is a school-to-work partnership of employers and educators in Vancouver County, Washington, that is advocating for a strong focus on employability in the basic education of all high school students.

WestEd staff are developing a portfolio-based assessment tool to measure student performance in relation to challenging academic and career-related standards.

The portfolio also provides a vehicle for showcasing a student’s work for potential employers and colleges. Those students whose portfolios meet the performance requirements and standards receive a Skill Certificate that is recognized by local businesses and colleges.

WestEd project staff are designing the portfolio; developing portfolio handbooks for teachers, students, employers, and parents; and training teachers to integrate the portfolio into classroom practice.
