CABAP is part of the 26-state Building a Presence network coordinated and supported by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). As part of this network, CABAP aims to have a teacher Point of Contact in every California public and private school.
CABAP provides resources and information that support more and better K-12 science education for all California students.
The CABAP network has 3 main levels:
- Statewide Leadership: Five partner organizations that work statewide in K-12 science education
- Key Leaders: Approximately 300 Key Leaders who enlist and support the local Points of Contact
- Points of Contact (POC): Teacher(s) in a school who act as POCs to inform and support other teachers at the school
Five partners who work statewide in science education collaborate to develop and manage CABAP. These partners are:
CABAP also collaborates with many local organizations and networks such as County Offices of Education, large school districts, local networks (such as the San Diego Science Alliance), and informal science centers.
In addition to providing timely information about science education issues and resources, CABAP provides resources to help improve both the quantity and quality of California K-12 science education. Many of these resources are available online at
www.cabap.org.
Our most recent addition to CABAP.org is a set of correlations for 4th and 5th grade teachers which link the California Science Standards to the state adopted science texts and FOSS, and provide science content information for teachers. These correlations allow teachers to:
- Find where their instructional materials cover each of the 4th and 5th grade science standards
- Access teacher-oriented science content through Concept Overviews and Content Tips, as well as links to other resources
- Understand the intent of specific standards as described in the California Science Framework.
We will continue to develop and add useful resources to promote more and better science education throughout California. To receive updates as resources are added, join the CABAP network by contacting
