In collaboration with staff from the Vermont Department of Education's Standards and Assessments Team, Learning Innovations staff will design, implement, and monitor strategies, programs, and materials that promote participation by all students in Vermont's Comprehensive Assessment System. Particular emphasis will be placed on meeting the unique assessment needs of students from special populations.
The project will focus on four key areas: (1) design of alternate assessment scoring methods and materials, training of scorers, and general coordination of the annual alternate assessment scoring institute; (2) development of reporting protocols for alternate assessment results; (3) development of new alternate assessments that are necessitated by expansion of Vermont's Comprehensive Assessment System; and (4) consultation and assistance on emerging issues and priorities related to assessment participation for students with special assessment needs. Overall, the project will help ensure that Vermont meets all assessment participation requirements of state and federal law.
