SurveyWorks! is Rhode Island's Education Survey Suite. WestEd conducts these annual surveys of students, parents, teachers/staff, and administrators as part of a coordinated effort to improve schools for the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
These online surveys are targeted toward Rhode Island public school students in grades 4-12, teachers and staff, and administrators. Parents of all public school students are also surveyed online or via paper.
SurveyWorks! survey content is driven by the Rhode Island Basic Education Program to measure school-related issues pertaining to:
- Teaching and student achievement
- Family and community connections
- Safe and supportive school environment
- Funding and resources available to schools
During year 1, in 2009, SurveyWorks! administered the Student Survey online for the first time. Data were gathered from approximately 85,000 students in almost 300 schools.
In year 2, the SurveyWorks! team again administered the Student Survey, and developed and implemented the Parent, Teacher/Staff, and Administrator Surveys.
In 2011, WestEd surveyed approximately 100,000 students, 10,000 parents, 6,000 teachers and staff members, and more than 450 administrators at 300 participating schools.
In addition to developing and implementing the suite of surveys, the SurveyWorks! team developed an integrated SurveyWorks! school-level report template.
For more information on the surveys and administration dates, please visit the
SurveyWorks! website.
The WestEd SurveyWorks! team has worked closely with the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Rhode Island schools to collect data and deliver publically available reports to each school participating in the survey for their use in school improvement. These reports are available at the
InfoWorks LIVE! website.
