Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework and the California Preschool Learning Foundations Alignment

Available for your use is an alignment of the Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework with the California Preschool Learning Foundations, developed by WestEd through a process facilitated by the California Head Start Collaboration Office in partnership with the California Head Start Association and the California Center of the Office of Head Start Training and Technical Assistance Network.

This document supports Head Start education managers and education supervisors by demonstrating the ways in which these two sources align with each other, and the ways in which they share similar goals for children in all areas of learning and development. The alignment of the Head Start Early Learning Framework with the California Preschool Learning Foundations provides a valuable resource to facilitate the coordinated and aligned functioning of all the components of education in an early childhood program –curriculum goals, teaching strategies, and assessment.

Head Start Alignment with the DRDP© (2010) Assessment Instrument

Please continue to visit this page for the alignment with the new Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework. Head Start has just recently introduced the Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework which was formerly the Head Start Child Outcomes Framework. The revised Framework will guide programs as they serve children aged three to five by addressing key elements of school readiness and program function.

Visit Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center (ECLKC) to view a useful webinar on the revised Framework.

At the request of California Head Start-State Collaboration Office, SETA Head Start has completed a crosswalk between the DRDP-PS© (2010) instruments and the Head Start Outcomes Framework and has graciously agreed to share it statewide. There is full alignment and no need for additional measures. They have also completed the alignment of the DRDP-IT© (2010) for use in Early Head Start.
