Welcome! The Desired Results Head Start page is brought to you in partnership with the Los Angeles County Office of Education Head Start-State Preschool. Office of Head Start

What's New?

LACOE Head Start Specific Requirements

  1. All children must have a developmental assessment; DRDP© (2010), completed within 45 days of enrollment.

  2. Teachers must use the results of assessments of child’s progress and classroom practices to support each child’s learning and development.

  3. A DRDP must be completed three times a year for each child.

  4. Developmental screenings (ASQ and ASQ-SE) must be completed within 45 days of each child's enrollment.

  5. Children with an IEP must have a DRDP© (2010) completed by their classroom teacher as well as a DRDP access completed by their special education specialist.
The Teacher Tip, Dual Language Learner, Head Start Alignment, and Resources web pages have been updated to bring you new tips for activities, resources, and web links to assist you in the care you provide for children.

Visit the Teacher Tip page for ideas on developmentally appropriate activities that address each DRDP domain. These activities will provide opportunities for you to collect evidence that will help teachers determine children’s developmental levels for specific DRDP© (2010) Assessment Instruments' measures.

Visit the Dual Language Learner page for developmentally appropriate activities that promote learning while providing opportunities to document children’s English language development. These activities also address the four new DRDP© (2010) English language development (ELD) measures.

Visit the Head Start Alignment page here for information on how the DRDP© (2010) instrument fully aligns to Head Start requirements, and to download the Head Start ACF/OHS Child Outcomes Domain Elements for Infant/Toddlers and Preschool.

Visit the Resources page for links to useful resources from other websites such as the Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center, the National Head Start Family Literacy Center, and much more.
