Association for Childhood Education International Provides two journals and various publications, conferences and workshops. Their mission is to promote and support in the global community the optimal education and development of children, from birth through early adolescence, and to influence the professional growth of educators and the efforts of others who are committed to the needs of children in a changing society. California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC) CAEYC's Professional Development Academy was created to meet the training and technical assistance needs of early education teachers and providers, program administrators, and parents. The Academy offers opportunities for professional growth for early care professionals around the state. The Academy's workshops, seminars, institutes, online learning forums, and publication subscriptions provide information on early childhood topics. CAEYC also hosts an annual conference in March with over 200 workshops. Outside link
California Child Development Administrator Association (CCDAA) California Child Development Administrator Association (CCDAA) provides and develops leadership that supports publicly funded early care and education programs for children from birth to 13 and their families. Outside link
California Commission on Teacher Credentialing The CTC web site provides current information on Child Development Permits as well as other California teaching credentials. Outside link
California Department of Education Conference Calendar Statewide and national education conferences of interest to educators, parents, and students. Outside link
California Early Childhood Mentor Program The program is supported by Federal Child Care and Development Block Grant Quality Improvement Funds which are administered by City College of San Francisco through a contract with the California Department of Education, Child Development Division. It provides advanced training for experienced child care workers who wish to become Mentors to new practitioners. Outside link
California School-Age Consortium The California School-Age Consortium (CalSAC) provides training and advocacy for after school professionals throughout California. Outside link
Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations of Learning (CSEFL) Promoting Social and Emotional Competence: These modules were designed based on input gathered during focus groups with program administrators, T/TA providers, early educators, and family members about the types and content of training that would be most useful in addressing the social-emotional needs of young children. The content of the modules is consistent with evidence-based practices identified through a thorough review of the literature. Outside link
Child Development Training Consortium The CDTC is a statewide program funded by the California Department of Education, Child Development Division (CDE/CDD) with federal Child Care and Development Quality Improvement funds. The program is administered by the Yosemite Community College District and serves all of California. Since 2002-2003, the CDTC has also received funding from First 5 California. Funding for all program services is limited. All programs listed below are funded by CDE/CDD unless otherwise noted.
The mission of the CDTC is to encourage and support students and professionals working with and for children by providing services, training, technical assistance, and resources, which promote professionalism and high quality programs for the benefit of California's children and families. National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is dedicated to improving the well-being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8. NAEYC is committed to becoming an increasingly high performing and inclusive organization. NAEYC sponsors the NAEYC annual conference, the annual Week of the Young Child; the National Institute for Early Childhood Professional Development; a summer professional development conference. ZERO TO THREE This non-profit fosters a network of people around the country who are concerned about the needs of infants, toddlers, and families. It also functions as an Early Head Start National Resource Center and develops and conducts training for the birth to 3 programs that are part of Head Start.
