Training Opportunities & Support

Regional Desired Results System Training (Invitation only)

Regional Desired Results System Training hosted by the Child Development Division (CDD), California Department of Education and the Center for Child and Family Studies at WestEd. These three-day trainings for administrative staff are by invitation only.

California Preschool Instructional Networks

The purpose of the California Preschool Instructional Networks (CPIN) is to provide professional development and technical assistance to preschool teachers to ensure preschool children are ready for school. CPIN maintains a calendar of regional trainings on Language and Literacy and other topics.

California Preschool Online Learning Center Courses

The Center for Child and Family Studies at WestEd, under contract by the California Department of Education, Child Development Division, offers a variety of online learning opportunities for early care and education providers and early education administrators. Currently being offered are online courses in Observation of Young Children, the Desired Results Developmental Profile-Revised (DRDP-R) and Preschool English Learners.

Fee for Service Teacher Training

WestEd, at the request of the California Department of Education Child Development Division, has developed trainings and a cadre of certified trainers to provide training on the Desired Results Developmental Profile - Revised. The University Preparation School at CSU Channel Islands is the agency that facilitates this training for us. Developed specifically for teachers, the trainings focus on the DRDP-Revised and its use in the classroom. Teachers will gain skills in observation and assessment. CEU and academic units are available for an additional fee.

Training Resources

The Center for Child and Family Studies at WestEd offers a variety of DRDP-R and Observation checklists, worksheets, organizers, samples and other resources to support staff working in Infant/Toddler, Preschool and School Age programs.
