California Preschool Online Learning Center Courses

The Center for Child and Family Studies at WestEd, under contract by the California Department of Education, Child Development Division, offers a variety of online learning opportunities for early care and education providers and early education administrators.

Online courses include the Desired Results Developmental Profile DRDP© (2010) and Preschool English Learners. Courses are available for either 3 academic credits or 4.5 CEU. Go to the California Preschool Online Learning Center for more information.

Learn about:
  • The Purpose of Observation
  • Observing and Collecting Evidence
  • Organizing an Observation System
  • Reviewing and Reflecting on Documentation; Rating the Desired Results Developmental Profile - DRDP© (2010)

    *Previous attendance of the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP©) teacher training or a working knowledge of the DRDP© is recommended.

Activity Planning in the Preschool Classroom Training

This full day training provides the opportunity to learn about:

  • Using DRDP© results to plan for individual children and groups of children
  • How to use DRDP© results with a local curriculum (This training may be adapted to focus on the agency-adopted curriculum.)
  • Utilizing the foundations and frameworks in the planning process
  • How DRDP© Summary of Findings results are used for supporting children’s progress

Sharpening Your DRDP© Skills

This training is for teaching staff that have not attended a DRDP© (2010) or Meaningful Observation training. Sharpening Your DRDP© Skills is designed for staff who have experience using the DRDP© (2010) and would like to learn more about the English language development (ELD) measures, increase observation skills, and learn some time saving tips.  For teachers who have already participated in the DRDP© or Meaningful Observation trainings, Desired Results recommends the Activity Planning in the Classroom one-day training.
