WestEd’s Ida Rose Florez, Evelina Du, Osnat Zur, Tina Jimenez, Jonathon Lemon, and Elizabeth Magruder will present “Creating a High-Performing Cross-Disciplinary Professional Development Design Team: A Systems-Thinking Approach” at the NAEYC* 2015 National Institute for Early Childhood Professional Development Conference on June 8, 2015.

The presenters will share how they’ve used systems thinking to create a team of content, digital media, and graphic design experts that learns together, and help participants identify how they can use these principles in their own teams.

The WestEd team will showcase PD2GO and How to Make a Whiteboard Animation, as innovative examples of what’s possible when “content” and “design” and “tech” experts work effectively together as a cross-disciplinary professional development design team.

In the presentation, they will share their experience developing an intentional, strategic design process. They will describe how the team applies learning and developmental science, leverages technology and visual literacy, and uses systems thinking in designing professional development for early educators. They will share lessons learned that are valuable for any team with professionals of diverse disciplinary backgrounds.
