WestEd's Secondary Literacy Support Network (SLSN) boosts reading and literacy levels for middle and high school students. Through first analyzing school data, then creating a literacy plan specifically suited to the school's environment, SLSN helps to quickly advance students to higher reading levels - and ensure that higher performance continues in the future.

SLSN's research-based approach works with you every step of the way to bring low-performing students up to grade level. No matter how diverse your school population, our comprehensive approach is designed to teach faculty the fundamentals of reading and literacy instruction so that all of your students will succeed. Our program includes the following services:
  • Identifying the Needs: Reviewing research, analyzing school literacy data, and examining strategies for effective leadership

  • Designing the Literacy Plan: Learning how to design the master schedule, including identifying needed components, and writing and editing literacy plans that incorporate accountability for implementation

  • Putting the Plan to Action: Technical assistance provided by SLSN experts in the ongoing years to help you keep your plan productive and successful
