This archived webinar is the first in a series, “Transitioning to the Common Core State Standards: Spotlight on Instruction, Assessment, and Equity.”

The webinar series provides strategies that middle and high school educators to apply immediately in transitioning to the California Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, & Technical Subjects.

Educators can also use this series of webinars as part of professional learning community conversations on shared responsibility for literacy development of all students. 

Sacramento County Office of Education (California) staff Christine Anderson and Becky Sullivan presented this overview webinar to start the series. Topics highlighted are informational text, drawing evidence from sources and using complex text.

WestEd’s SchoolsMovingUp assisted the Secondary Literacy Partnership, formerly the Secondary Literacy Summit, in offering the series to educators.

Members of the Secondary Literacy Partnership include the California Department of Education, the Association of California School Administrators, the California Teachers Association, and the California Comprehensive Center at WestEd.
