Access and use PowerPoint or HyperStudio to develop presentation Teacher Outcomes: 1. Identify at least three differenct multimedia software programs available to IBM or Apple computer systems 2. Load and use at least PowerPoint and/or HyperStudio to create an electronic welcome for new students 3. Impart these skills to her students in a way that will allow the students to create their own electronic message 4. Access at least three micro-breweries in the United States through the Internet 5. Use the Teacher Associate to professionally manage learning

Instructional Plan: The curricular and instructional focus of this TIP is to develop an electronic self-guided welcome packet for second graders. This product, once designed and implemented in the classroom, will be expanded to the community. The students will identify elements that are needed to welcome new people to the classroom, including a map of the room, schedules of the teachers, identification of students, the different roles of the people in the classroom, and rules and norms of the classroom. The students will learn the components of a multimedia presentation including storyboarding, script writing, using graphics, adding sound, and integrating information. The Internet will be accessed to provide students with resources to add to their multimedia presentations and to contact other students developing similar projects. The final product will be student designed and produced electronic welcome packets to share with other classrooms and the community. Technology Integration: The unit is almost completely dependent upon technology. From camcorders to computers to monitors to display the finished product to a large group, the unit will rely heavily on the knowledgeable use of the various forms of technology.
