INTERVENTION PLAN
Student Outcomes: 1. Higher percentage of assignments completed (class & homework) 2. Higher degree of student involvement with formal communications systems 3. Higher degree of interest/motivation re: reading & writing 4. Learn to pick out main ideas in works of literature - then transfer this skill to other types of writing Teacher Outcomes: Learn more effective methods of teaching students how to think (reason) and how to effectively put those thoughts into writing. Instructional Plan: The curricular and instructional focus of this TIP is the improvement of student writing and communication skills. The students will pick a topic of their interest and write a variety of different types of articles, fiction, or biographies. Students will work in cooperative groups to edit, exchange constructive feedback, and assist in the rewriting of each article. They will learn the elements of good writing, such as brainstorming, research, reading, editing, and rewriting final copy and incorporate the necessary components of good writing by reviewing and comparing different writing styles found on the Internet. The students will use the Internet to share their work with others for evaluation and feedback. A control group will be established to compare and evaluate the results of using the Internet in support of student writing and communication skills.
