INTERVENTION PLAN
Student Outcomes: Indirect access to better, more current programs and resources that utilize current technology, such as CD-ROM's, computer disks, and video,s as parents or teachers access new materials Teacher Outcomes: 1. Management processes for Media Specialist 2. Coordinated efforts with DoDEA Staff in establishing center (Barbara Schriver) 3. Facilitate integration of technology into curriculum 4. Provide on demand access to relevant information and resources 5. Find out about existing models of preview and review centers (as Monterey, CA's Test Bed) Instructional Plan: The curricular and instructional focus of this TIP is to establish a software and video clearinghouse and preview center for teachers. The teachers will use select software, including CD-ROMS, videos and laser discs, and use it with their students. Teachers will use a variety of evaluation tools to rate the materials they use, and their recommendations will be published and used to select technologies to support instruction in the classroom. The preview center will initially be available to Hanau personnel and will be expanded to other sites in the future. The final product will be teacher evaluated technologies to support classroom instruction. Technology Integration: This preview center will need many different kinds of technologies in order to be effective and should have access to: CD-ROMs for IBM and MAC Laserdisk player Television and VCR

On-Going Support: 1. No instructional aide available 2. Support of many teachers throughout Europe to come to Sportfield and preview materials 3. Principal, Jack O-Reilly, will encourage and facilitate on-line communications and programs as well as videos, CD-ROM programs, reference manuals (print and non-print), books, magazines and other sources 4. Supply Clerk to help troubleshoot 5. Mike Houser with DSO to help troubleshoot 6. Question & answer via email on an ongoing basis 7. Training in specific areas where needed 8. Information on new technology resources 9. Customized hotlists on topics of interest to teachers 10. Links to education resources in the States, such as clearinghouses 11. Help establishing a review center in Germany 12. Enter local materials in database and make it accessible 13. Include the Media Specialist on the Computer Committee for review and ordering procedures for the Apple and IBM school computers Estimated time needed to design and implement your TIP: 1. A couple of days free to re-organize current set-up to accommodate the preview center 2. Release time available to explain the program in person to another school 3. Appointments to allow teachers from outlying districts to come to Hanau to preview materials 4. A room to relocate some materials 5. Physical assistance set-up review area (will need help to do this) 6. Contact with POGO staff and media companies to gather materials 7. Pre-arranged appointments in the media center for teachers to come in to preview programs 8. Assist teachers in review of materials 9. Inform parents of available resources 10.
