Learn how to access the Internet and find classroom resources 3. Use technology to expand student learning and access the community in which they live and the world at large 4. Learn how to communicate and share learning with other second grade teachers 5. Use the Internet to connect students with other students Instructional Plan: The curricular and instructional focus of this TIP is the study of biomes and their life cycles. Students will work in cooperative groups to gather, interpret, and develop reports on biomes. This activity will allow students to use the study of biomes and their life cycles to enhance research, writing, and reporting skills. The second component of this TIP is student designed presentations on their research and findings. The students will use the Internet to access resources from scientists and others who are studying biomes. In this project students will learn the critical concepts of using technology to make multimedia presentations and will produce student developed multimedia projects on the life cycles of biomes. Technology Support: 1. The Teachers Associate and Shepherd will be used to access lesson plans and classroom materials 2. Netscape and other Internet software will be used TIP Assessment: Student observations Student demonstration of work Teacher-made tests Student Projects Existing Resources: Encyclopedia of Nature Language arts text Science text book Animals and Encyclopedia New Resources: HP 1200 New Dell Professional Development Resources: 1.
