  1. A customizable graphical user interface grounded in an underlying theory of education and communication.
  2. Connectivity and data sharing with local and networked multimedia resources, including CD-ROMs, WWW, and others.
  3. Flexible indexing, organization, and retrieval of knowledge resources
  4. An "audit trail" to document and reconstruct the collaborative process.
  5. Configurable tools for knowledge access, composition, annotation, and distribution among collaborators.
  6. Linking in Netbook with student portfolios.
  7. Student use of multiple representations (movies, text, graphics, statistics) to express ideas.
There will be access to NSF History of America digital library project via participation of Cornell University as a subcontractor.
