INTERVENTION PLAN
Student Outcomes: Student will be able to: 1. Give a presentation using one or more modalities to give factual information about a dinosaur that has been studied. 2. Demonstrate a comfortable level with using software designed to explore and expand information about dinosaurs. 3. Write and develop a multimedia report about a chosen dinosaur, using correct punctuation, capitalization, sentence order, and story sense.
Teacher Outcomes: Teacher will be able to: 1. Identify at least three differenct multimedia software programs available for IBM or Apple computer systems. 2. Show application of knowledge by imparting same skills to students. 3. Demonstrate knowledge of the Teachers Associate, the Shepherd, and how to access and use Internet.
Instructional Plan: The curricular and instructional focus of this TIP is the study of dinosaurs. The students will integrate the theme of dinosaurs through a variety of curricular areas. The students will work in cooperative groups to learn the elements of writing including brainstorming, research, writing, proofreading, editing, rewriting, and final copy. The second component of this TIP will focus on students learning to present their reports in a multimedia format including storyboarding, use of graphics, adding sound clips, and information integration. The students will use the Internet to access additional resources about other students learning about dinosaurs. Additionally, experts in the field in the study of dinosaurs will be contacted to give students primary source information. The final product will be student designed and produced multimedia reports.
Technology Integration: Computers will allow access to software and provide ability to store information and product as it is being genrated. 1. A scanner will allow flexibility. 2. Printers will allow user to generate a rough draft hard copy that can then be annotated for revision. 3. A VCR will allow students to view an informational and/or animated movie about dinosaurs. 4. A tape player will allow students to hear songs describing dinosaurs and allow students to make "Talking Books" as a project. 5. A video camera will allow animated clips to be loaded into the program. 6. TA will allow me to work on lesson plans, keep attendance, write and produce letters to parents, keep grades and notations about students. 7. Shepherd will allow me to access the Net and add titles to my homepage as well as let others know of sites.
