We have news and history content appropriate civics, government, current events, or history; we also have NASA footage appropriate to science and history In collaboration with teachers, can identify multimedia material of interest to them and arrange to have that material digitized.
Process skills: Inquiry, critical thinking evaluation, individual or group instruction.
2. Target Population: Currently high school; potentially also K-8.
3. Summary Description: The product contains multimedia tools for search, non-linear access, and annotation of video and audio programs. The tools also help with the incorporation of multimedia material into Web documents.
The performers believe that multimedia material (video and audio) should be integrated into existing courses. They want to make video/film as easy to use a books. They also have as a goal increasing studentsŐ critical thinking about moving image presentations. Students should understand the importance of camera use, cutting, music, etc. in the formation of their opinion of the content of the piece. There are a few CD-ROMs with news by year, but they have a limited amount of material and do not cover the hidden messages of media stories.
