Join WestEd at this Fall’s California Science Education Conference (CSTA) featuring short courses designed to dig deeper into the Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards. The event takes place October 2-4, 2015 in Sacramento.

Each short course’s duration is three to six hours, giving participants the chance to interact and understand the material. WestEd’s Kirsten Daehler, Kathy DiRanna, Jody Sherriff, and Jo Topps will be among the presenters.

Daehler, Director of WestEd’s Making Sense of SCIENCE, will present “Making Sense of SCIENCE: Models & Modeling.”

DiRanna, Statewide Director for WestEd’s K-12 Alliance, will present on “Digging Deeper: The Relationship Between Explanation and Argumentation” and “Leading the NGSS Implementation: Lesson from the Early Implementer Initiative.”

Sherriff, K-12 Alliance Regional Director, will present on “Engineering is Elementary: Putting the ‘T’ & ‘E’ in STEM.”

Topps, K-12 Alliance Regional Director, will present on “Stop Teaching in Silos! NGSS Opens the Door to Common Core.”
