WestEd Publication Wins National Education Publishing Award for Second Consecutive Year

San Francisco, California—June 13, 2013—WestEd’s R&D Alert® has won the 2013 Beacon Award for Excellence in Newsletters from the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP). The publication won the 2012 Beacon Award for Excellence, as well.
Published three times a year, R&D Alert covers issues affecting schools, communities, and human development throughout the United States. “Winning a second consecutive Beacon Award for R&D Alert is testimony to the high quality and relevance of our ongoing work,” says Glen Harvey, CEO of WestEd. “We’re extremely honored that AEP has again recognized our agency newsletter.”
Winning entries undergo two rounds of judging by a select pool of educators and education publishing professionals. Entries are judged on conceptualization, excellence in execution, integration of editorial and design, and effective use of the medium.
AEP has recognized WestEd’s work many times in the past. In 2011, WestEd’s Math Pathways & Pitfalls won the Distinguished Achievement Award in the Curriculum Category for Mathematics, Grades 6–12.
The AEP awards are the longest-running recognition program in the industry. For a complete list of finalists, visit AEPweb.org.
