The Ensuring Equity to Close Achievement Gaps Conference is designed to help suburban and rural school districts meet the challenges they face in closing achievement gaps among their students.

Conference presentations will provide information and introduce strategies and resources that educators can implement immediately. Districts and schools are encouraged to send teams to the conference, hosted by the Region IX Equity Assistance Center at WestEd and the Placer County Office of Education.

Edward Fergus will serve as keynote speaker. Fergus is known for his work on education outcomes of boys of color, disproportionality in special education and suspensions, and school climate conditions for low-income and marginalized populations.

Presenters also include Region IX Equity Assistance Center staff Rose Owens-West (Director), Margit Birge (Senior Program Associate), and Nicodemus Ford (Senior Program Associate).
