Ann Appert

Ann C. Appert is Director of Strategic Planning and Resource Allocation  in WestEd’s Standards, Assessment, and Accountability Services program.

Appert oversees program finances, new opportunity assessment and analysis, and all project management services and personnel.

In addition, she serves as Co–Project Director for the Kindergarten Readiness Enhanced Assessment project, a collaborative of seven states led by the Maryland Department of Education, the Louisiana Social Studies and Science assessment development projects, and the Tennessee Gr 2 ELA and math assessment development project.

Previously, Appert co-led the Smarter Balanced Project Management team, overseeing implementation for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium — a collaboration among state education agencies to create a next-generation standardized assessment system based on the Common Core State Standards.

Appert’s past experience includes implementing fiscal, educational, and operations policies at Lafayette Elementary School District; developing strategic messaging as a consultant with Peterson, Skolnick, & Dodge; and providing corporate finance services as a Vice President with the banking firm JP Morgan & Co.

Appert received a BS in social planning and public policy from Cornell University.
