Brianne Dotson (she/her/hers) is a Senior Program Associate on the Strategic Resource Allocation and System Planning team. Dr. Dotson has over 20 years of experience in equity-focused systems change, district and school improvement, and leadership development. She partners with states and districts to achieve targeted outcomes through data-driven decision-making, strategic planning, and continuous improvement.
At WestEd, Dr. Dotson worked with the Colorado Department of Education to revise their Equity Toolkit for Administrators and served as an advisor for their BIPOC Charter Leader Support Program. Additionally, she has led and participated in projects focused on increasing the race and gender diversity of the principal pipeline in Illinois, supporting high-need districts in Rhode Island to strategically use their Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) allocations, and conducting a cost and equity study of state-funded preschool in Nevada.
Prior to joining WestEd, Dr. Dotson leveraged her experience as a teacher, principal, and district leader to build leaders’ capacity in reimagining and rebuilding systems and structures to facilitate sustainable and equitable outcomes in their schools, districts, and organizations.
Dr. Dotson holds an EdD from Michigan State University, an EdM from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a BA from the University of Southern California.
