Carol Cohen

Senior Research Associate Carol Cohen is a project director and senior team member for national and regional research, evaluation, and technical assistance projects.

She has more than 25 years of experience in managing and conducting research, analysis, and technical assistance for federal, state, and local policymakers and program leaders in education and human services.

Cohen serves as Director of Technical Assistance for the Mid-Atlantic Comprehensive Center. In this capacity, Cohen coordinates the provision of technical assistance, to the five Mid-Atlantic states. Her work includes both state-specific and regional activities.

Cohen has directed a series of large projects to evaluate and improve education policies and programs, including monitoring state and local education agencies, and schools implementing charter school and other federal grant projects.

Prior to joining WestEd, Cohen served as Deputy Director of The Finance Project, a national research and technical assistance organization focused on the financing and sustainability of education and human services initiatives.
While at The Finance Project, Cohen directed education research studies and information brokering efforts, in addition to assisting in the overall management of the organization.

Cohen received a Master’s of Public Policy from the Graduate School of Public Policy, University of California, Berkeley.
