Diana Blackmon
Diana Blackmon is a Special Education Training Specialist working with the Center for Prevention and Early Intervention. Her area of expertise and doctoral research is on developing programs that promote high school completion and post-secondary engagement for students with disabilities. Prior to joining WestEd, she served at the state education agency (SEA) and local education agency (LEA) level as an administrator. In her LEA work, she has been acknowledged for developing award-winning transition to adult living programs for students with disabilities. Since joining WestEd, Blackmon (2014) authored a white paper for the California Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, proving research and policy recommendations to increase the number of students with disabilities who participate in career technical education programs; she has conducted several district reviews of special education programs, and serves on national centers that support state-level improvement change for children and youth with disabilities. Blackmon's other areas of experience and expertise include juvenile justice and adapting instruction for diverse learners.
