Jody Sherriff, K-12 Alliance Regional Director at WestEd, provides professional development services for districts and schools in central and northern California.
Sherriff has designed and implemented multiple local grants in mathematics and science, including several California Math and Science Partnerships (CAMSP) and a California Postsecondary Education Commission (CPEC) grant. She also directed professional development programs for the University of California Office of the President. Current statewide efforts include technical support for the FOSS Leadership Academy. Nationally, Sherriff is helping to launch Disney’s Planet Earth Challenge.
She has served on state committees, including the 1999 Science Framework committee, and has conducted many professional development programs training teachers on the use of the statewide science assessments (e.g., CAP, CLAS, PASS). Sherriff is a presenter at local, state, and national conferences including the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) and the National Staff Development Council (NSDC). Her classroom teaching experience spans over 15 years in all grades K-8.
She received a BS in language arts and a minor in mathematics from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and an MA in education and administration from the University of La Verne.
